We know that over the past few posts you've been hearing a lot from us here at Bailey's Moving and Storage. That's why we've decided to open up our blog for guest writers who want to post interesting thoughts and advice on moving topics this month! As part of our iPad contest, guest writers are submitting posts for our blog. Here's one by Brooklyn D from Colorado:
>> Moving? Moving is the busiest time of year for people! It's a very long process, but these tips will make your transition much smoother:
If you're still deciding on wether to use a moving company or move yourself, use a moving company! As busy as they can get, make sure you call the moving company at least 6 weeks ahead of time for the notice; you don't want them to be unprepared.
Be sure to know when you're moving and when your house is closing, as moving always takes much longer than you think. If you want to make any changes to your new home - for example, re-do the kitchen or re- paint a room - plan enough time to do it before you move from your point A to point B!
There's no reason to move things you don't want. If there is anything you barely use, donate it to the goodwill for someone that will use it. Get rid of anything else, or have a yard sale.
If you are moving yourself you can buy boxes from a moving company or a store. Make sure you have everything you need in order to start packing boxes. Take a clipboard of things you need to buy to the store. You will need bubble wrap, for anything fragile or delicate. Boxes to pack your things in them, and last but not least you might want to get a UHAUL to put your boxes into for on the way to point B.
Whether you use a mover or pack yourself, make sure you are choosing what you want to do.
