The ppl are very nice and I appreciated that I was treated very good. The truckers coming in and out drove me nuts cuz they jammed the place up and didn't care. I thank u for the coffee and have a safe and wonderful holiday to all. Maybe next time Dirk would have time to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with me.
Watch them like a Hawk!!! My wife's employer paid for our move so that was the only good thing about the move. Bailey's subcontracts about everything. What to expected: Packers come a day or 2 before the loaders (paid by the hour so don't expect fast work) (subcontracted), loaders put things into truck #1 (day laborers mostly not professionals), everything is then repacked into truck #2, truck #2 will make stops along its route so don't expect a fast turnaround, truck #2 arrives to your house where the driver uses another subcontract of day laborers to help move items into your house. Yes. There is "insurance" to cover damages but that consists of Allied using a subcontractor to make repairs. In my case, 3 bookcases were badly damaged, our wood crib got badly scratched up and then our new mattress has a large oil stain on it. The have subcontracted a woodworker to repair the bookcases and refinish the crib. Somehow this person is also qualified to remove the oil stain too. We moved the last week of June and submitted our claim August first (once we had a chance to evaluate everything). Here I am in January with nothing fixed to date. Our woodworking subcontractor is never on time to appointments or constantly reschedules. I may come back to talk about how the work was done (if it ever gets done). In short don't expect for items to get replaced. In my opinion, it will cost Allied more to pay a woodworker to do the repair and refinish the stain than to buy new bookcases. You also have to play the "this is what we will cover/not cover" game with them even though they caused all of the damage. I had a furniture drawer which had a piece of laminate come off and they would not cover it. Half of the problem of the damages is that the loaders do not use packaging wrap and the loaders basically put your stuff into truck #1 as fast as possible because they know that everything will have to come out and put into truck #2. I actually package wrapped one of my 4 bookcases. I thought that as "professionals" they would do the same. They did not. If we ever had to pay for our own move, I would not recommend Bailey's. I also second what the July 9, 2009 reviewer said about trying to get in touch with them (it is VERY difficult). The only bright spot was the driver (Kevin) of Truck #2. He was very professional and would ask for him specifically if you do have to end up using Bailey's.
